Animal Massage
Massage
for animals is really not a luxury anymore
but a necessity for many of our animal
companions today. Our animals often pick up
on our everyday stresses and sometimes will
even take on our illnesses thinking they are
helping us. Massage is a noninvasive and
general therapy. By maintaining good mental,
emotional and physical health your animal
will be much more relaxed, grounded and
healthy. Just as we enjoy a good massage to
alleviate stress or aches and pains, regular
massage therapy can be of great benefit to
your companion animal. Massage can be done
on just about any animal dog, horses,
bunnies, reptiles and often times certain
cats. I work with the intention of holding a
sacred space for your animal to relax and
heal.
Some benefits of massage include:
• Increased circulation and range of motion
• Reduced swelling and arthritis pain
• Breaks down adhesions and can prevent them
from forming
• Aids in the removal of toxins in the body
• Provides a mild form of exercise
• Stimulates both physically and mentally
Certain animals when enjoying a massage and
receiving its benefits will show signs of
relaxation such as yawning, licking their
lips or closing their eyes, letting both the
practitioner and the owner know that they
are enjoying it. Following a massage the
animal should be asked to walk for a few
minutes as well as drink some water. Then
they should be allowed to have a rest
period. The massage service is provided in
the comfort of your home. Sessions are
usually ½ hour to 45 minutes.
